The name theme is "Star Trek Moons" as Keiko's name is from the Star Trek character Keiko O'Brien, a botanist aboard the Enterprise and a central character in Star Trek. With Royal as the sire of this litter we choose to focus on the Star Trek Moons to name our precious pups.

"Circle of Life"

So looking forward to coming home to you.

Kate works with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) which is a process she started doing that introduces mild stresses to very young puppies in a controlled way (lower on the link are pictures). These stresses help stimulate the neurological system which improves the growth and development of the pup's immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance. Kate has noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference from her first litter and will now use ENS as a protocol in raising your puppies.

Cooling off, whooo...

We've gotten our first chiropractic adjustment in, feeling great to get started with you. Make sure you book our adjustment for when we arrive home to you that we can get baselined with stabilizing our bodies after playing rough and tumble with our family.

We're being socialized with the other spoos now that we're older, this will help in going home to more than one of us :o) 

Kate climbs in with us, getting us to chew on her that she can feel how our teeth are coming in and then if we bite she says "Owee OWEE" that we know to stop or be gentle. She gives us a variety of toys and some good solid toys to help us teethe.

We've started to reach into the grass...oh so interesting. "Potty Outside" Kate will call out and out we go. And now she calls us to "Come In" and certainly want to get her love and petting, especially with the TX heat ;o)

We're wearing our Lupine harness to help be trained by you. NO collars until we've been trained Potty Outside by you so our Chiropractic adjustments hold and you can grab us easily without taking an atlas out of alignment.

We're overwhelming Momma...she wants to get away from us pretty quick when we get to nursing, so now we find Kate and snuggle by her.

As we grow so fast, we're starting to get hungrier and needing more nutrients to not drain momma. Kate makes us up a slurry made from Purina puppy Mousse, thins it out with water and adds dried ground lamb dog food. She likes Health Extension Lamb kibble to get our sensitive tummies going. Over 19 yrs of breeding by Tes, this has become the protocol to avoid diarrhea from just the canned mousse (ALWAYS had diarrhea with only canned) then in adding the dried grounded kibble it made their stools nice that they no longer have swollen sensitive anal areas from the loose stools irritating them. SOOOO MUCH healthier!

Eating slurry now, MMmmhhhhmmm! TASTY! We slurp up the tasty liquid, then start learning to eat the more solid dog food.

Learning "Potty Outside", enjoying the world, toys to play with and learn from, different textures under our paws are all a part of growing stimulation to come home as balanced as we can be for you :o)

Lick, lick, momma keeps licking to get us to potty until we can do it on our own...and now Kate starts changing the wool blankets twice, to three times a day until we start going on paper, then outside.

One wants to keep the temps just right that they aren't too hot spreading all over that momma Keiko can circle around them to lay down and let them nurse :o) 

Here's how it works, some of us nurse, some of us zzzzzz.... We're FULL of milk as momma is doing great in providing for us, Thanks momma, and Keiko's still smiling, tired, yet smiling :o))) She needs her snuggling too ;o)

There's ALWAYS in every litter "The Arm Thing".

ALWAYS time to snuggle in and zzzzz....what puppies do best...zzzzz...and nummy nummy nurse ;o) Their first sense is smell. They come out ready to smell for the nipple and start nursing. In 11-14 days the next sense is the opening of their eyes, then around 3 wks old their ears open up to start hearing sounds...at which THEY start VOICING sounds to let us know things aren't as they use to be...Quiet...

As pups cannot pass their bodily fluids yet, it's momma Keiko's responsibility to lick them, warming them, creating their passing of fluids until it becomes a pup's natural excretion.

We're soooo happy to not dock tails or remove dew claws, usually done at 2-3 days old. Why? In the past practice, it was not uncommon that a pup or two was lost from the stress on having it done (and other variables)...that's why I wait one Week Through The woods of Mother Nature to let people know numbers. This gives pups the opportunity to not have stress and keep focused on their nourishing milk to help them recoup - and they're doing GREAT, just a mention that Andy being the smallest is getting lots of attention to drink as the others want to push him out :o)

Below, I place them in a box to clean the room and place fresh wool blankets down as they learn to go potty on their own.

Take a look at some of the pictures with their ear leathers back, one can see they're closed down tight.

What they do sense, are vibrations, thus I do everything I can to keep life relaxed and calm for them, helping with early stimulation in a natural way :o))

What we do a LOT of,. "Nummy nummy...Zzzzzzzzz..."

Umbilicals are drying up and falling off. Look at them going at it immediately! That shows some healthy born pups ;o)

Momma Keiko is doing great and has lots of milk for them. I'm rotating and helping each to nurse, yet most the time they're splitting their nursing time by half nursing and the other half slumbering...and I am always checking teets to assure they're all being taken down so teets stay healthy avoiding mastitis, always being watchful of so many things. 

These two males below have abstracts on their chest. Another has just several white hairs, oh so few.

It's vital that pups begin nursing within the first hour to get their colostrum to help their immune system. The picture below, 2 more new pups, the motion and nuzzling of the pups starting to nurse help bring the other pups forward to be born...and, we of course, can see their doing well in just having been born :o)

Momma Keiko is doing great and has lots of milk for them. Puppies come with full tails and due claws. This leaves a calm quiet litter, relaxing momma to stay healthy and flowing with milk.

Puppies are coming 5/29/24. They instinctively head immediately to the smell of a teat and start nursing.

In raising Royal & Standard Poodles, we hope to share a bit of what we do to bring you your next pet :o) The room must be heated to 80+ degrees as pups just come from the womb and they have no way to monitor their bodies being just born, especially the first week Through the Woods of Mother Nature. Wool blankets are used to wick away moisture and keep them dry and warm. We have a variety of colors, to make a  more colorful page for you ;o)
